Value-adding assessment and management of noise and vibration risks above and below ground, so that you can get on with construction.
Noise and vibration during construction are a critical concern for any major development because of the potential effect on nearby businesses and residents. Failure to adequately assess and put in place appropriate control measures can lead to a site being closed down until appropriate management is put in place.
Assessment and management of site impacts can distract from the construction work in hand. With extensive experience obtained working on some of the most significant construction projects in the UK, we have the capability and competence to assess, manage and monitor noise and vibration impacts so you can focus on getting on with the construction.
How we do it
Assessments are conducted in accordance with BS5228 (or other appropriate standard) and use advanced computer modelling techniques.
Best Practicable Means
Working closely with your construction team, Best Practicable Means (BPM) are developed within a Noise and Vibration Management Plan, which might include working practices, mitigation and monitoring. Air- and ground-borne noise and vibration impacts can be assessed, as well as site audits to share knowledge and highlight where improvements can be made to existing BPM practices.
Local Authority Consent
It may be appropriate to apply to the Local Authority for consent for the works under Section 61 of the Control of Pollution Act (CoPA). Providing operations are in accordance with the s61 consent, site activity is exempt from a stop notice under s60 of CoPA.
Noise at Work Monitoring
We provide measurement and monitoring of a workforce's daily noise exposure, as well as tailored health and safety action plans to reduce noise exposure in the workplace and meet noise at work regulations.
The requirement for noise and vibration monitoring of demolition and construction sites is becoming the norm around built-up areas. We offer specific solutions for attended and unattended noise and vibration monitoring to meet your specific requirements. A variety of
monitoring systems can be offered that can send you an email or text alert on exceedances, or alternatively we can provide "live" systems connected to the internet.
Why Use Us?
Here are some of the ways that we can help in this sector. If you've got a project in mind, our contact details are below or you can send a message to the team directly using our contact form.
We have provided specialist construction noise and vibration advice to a large number of clients on a range of size projects.
We use the latest software to model your construction and conduct robust assessments to support s61 consent applications. Our experience on the tunnelling works for the Crossrail project enable us to provide both airborne and groundborne noise and vibration impact assessments.
Effective and efficient monitoring and reporting
We can deploy and manage remote noise monitoring systems using our web-based application, thenoisemonitor.co.uk, which automatically takes care of reporting. Once approved, results are reported to local authorities via our secure website.
We understand that in construction time is money and delays are extremely costly. We work hard to ensure rapid turnaround within your reasonable timescale requests to ensure your project can progress as quickly as possible.
